About

MERCI (Marion Edwards Recovery Center Initiative) is the Disaster Response and Mission Support Center warehouse where we receive and ship all UMCOR kits, AGAPE boxes, and similar relief items. Items have been shipped from MERCI to Armenia, Liberia, El Salvador, Sierra Leone, and to places throughout the US where the supplies are needed.

We work with UMCOR, and most of the cleaning buckets enter the UMCOR chain of supplies to be sent throughout the US after a disaster. The most significant needs are supplies that are related to the relief kits found on the UMCOR website. We cannot accept food or clothing.

Please do not send kits to the Sager Brown warehouse that is on the UMCOR site.

When you are compiling your Hygiene Kits or Cleaning Kits (a.k.a. flood buckets) according to the lists on the UMCOR website, you might consider using the shopping lists below supplied by Aldersgate UMC. Members of Aldersgate UMC nor MERCI endorse a particular retail store but offers these lists as a potential source to help individuals and churches be good stewards over funds that are used to purchase these supplies.

  • Hygiene Kit Shopping List

MERCI depends upon volunteers who can go to the center to help put together UMCOR kits, prepare AGAPE boxes for shipment, and organize the warehouse so that we can be useful in times of disaster response.  At this time there is such a high need for kits that you are asked to please bring supplies with you when you come to volunteer.  Every little bit helps.
