Mary’s current health role enables her to work alongside the Liberian UMC Health Board, UMC Health Coordination office, and the leadership/staff of 5 Liberian UMC health facilities, including Ganta Hospital, Advance #15080N. The facilities provide affordable, Christ-centered, compassionate health services to more than half a million people, most of whom rely on subsistence farming for their livelihood. Fees only cover a portion of the cost of care, as most patients struggle to support basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing. A staff of over 260 at the five facilities provide a wide range of outpatient and inpatient services, including dental, mental health, HIV/AIDS, surgery, prenatal/postnatal clinics, and emergency triage Additionally, community based outreach includes efforts to improve water and sanitation, malaria prevention, construction of birthing houses, immunization, health education, community health volunteer training, and traditional birth attendant training.
Mary Zigbuo writes, “Supports from partners like you are the reasons our health facilities can provide affordable, but quality health care.” Romans 8:28 tells us, “We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” ”
Liberian UMC health services benefit from Imagine No Malaria, Maternal Child Health grants, and other UMC-supported health projects. On UMC #Giving Tuesday (Dec. 1, 2015), Mary Zigbuo reminds you that every dollar made online through the Advance at www.umcmission.org/give will be matched up to $1 million. Gifts to God’s work in Liberia are welcome at anytime. When mailing a check to Global Ministries, please write Mary Randall Zigbuo, Advance #10721Z in the memo line of your check. Gifts for project support should specify General Health and Ministry, Advance #3020622.
Mary Zigbuo: “I am humbled and thankful for this opportunity to be your hands and feet in Liberia and to experience your spiritual, material and financial support which gives me courage and strength. I hope to hear from you by emailing me at maryrandallzigbuo@gmail.com. Above all I solicit and depend upon your prayers!”
