The NC Conference Media Center is taking the following precautions with our resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Media Center remains closed to in-person visitors, but resources can be borrowed through the mail.
COVID-19 on Surfaces
The latest results from a special research project from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and partners show that a 3-day quarantine is effective for most library materials including hardcover books, paperback books, pages inside a book, plastic book covers, and DVD cases.

The Centers for Disease Control state that the virus that causes COVID-19 has not been shown to survive on hard surfaces longer than 7 days.

Quarantining and Disinfecting Media Center Resources
All resources that are returned to the Media Center will be quarantined for at least 5 days.
DVD cases and other resources with plastic covers will be wiped with a disinfecting cloth before spending 5 days quarantined in the Media Center.
Additional Precautions
On top of our quarantine and disinfecting procedures, the resources in the Media Center are handled by only one staff member. This staff member uses hand sanitizer or hand washing before and after handling materials. In addition, most of our resources have been on the shelf long enough to be safe.
If you are being extra cautious, you may leave resources inside of the packages that you receive from the Media Center for a few days before opening them.
Please DO NOT wipe down or try to disinfect items that you receive from the Media Center because you may damage them.
Please DO request resources a week or two before you need to use them so that all safety procedures can be followed.
Receiving resources in the mail from the Media Center is relatively safe, and we hope you will take advantage of this option as a way to continue your ministries and spiritual growth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
