The North Carolina Conference is experiencing an increasing reliance on electronic data systems and a growing cloud-based system presence online. After conducting a review of this increasingly important business need, the Information Technology Office will be undergoing a period of transition and change of focus.
Effective 12/31/2019, the Information Technology (IT) Office will transition to a Management Information Office. All positions within the IT Office will end accordingly. Douglas Ward, our current Director of IT, will transition to a new Director of Management Information Systems (MIS) position.
The new MIS Office will focus on strategic oversight of all data functions for the Conference in addition to the coordination of network functions. Conference data functions include, but are not limited to, the Online Data Collection System, Shelby Accounting, statistical reporting, billing systems, data sharing with GCFA and Wespath, network and cybersecurity, clergy and church records, electronic document management, etc.
We have begun the process of outsourcing network functions including end-user support, deployment, server, firewall, and security functions to Carolinas IT (a local service provider). The Director of MIS will oversee this outsourced function. Outsourcing this function will allow for a wider span of support for conference and remote staff to allow more focused attention to data services by the Director of MIS.
We have begun the work of bringing our newly outsourced function online and will let you know when our new communication channel has been established. We are excited to move into this new area of focus and look forward to your patience while we live in this transition together. For now, please continue contacting the Conference with technology questions by emailing support@nccumc.org. Questions or concerns about this transition may be sent to support@nccumc.org as well.
